
Getting admitted to ASU
What type of student are you?

First-year college student
You’re considered a first-year student if you graduated from a regionally accredited high school or earned your GED, and you never attended college or have fewer than 12 transferable college credit hours.

Transfer
You’re considered a transfer student if you graduated from high school or earned your GED, have 12 or more transferable credits from another college and/or completed an associate degree or higher, or completed an Arizona General Education Curriculum.

Graduate
You’re considered a graduate student if you have completed a bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited university in the U.S. or the equivalent from an international institution.

International
You’re considered an international student if you are not a U.S. citizen, permanent resident or a refugee in the U.S.

Military/Veteran
You’re considered a military or veteran student if you are an active-duty member of the military, a military veteran, or the spouse or dependent of an active military member or veteran.

Nondegree-seeking
You’re considered a nondegree-seeking student if you are continuing your education to enhance your professional skills or are taking courses but not seeking a degree.

Returning
You’re considered a returning student if you previously attended ASU as an undergraduate student but have not been enrolled at the university for three or more consecutive fall or spring semesters.

Homeschool student
You’re considered a homeschool student if you graduated from high school in a homeschool setting and have not completed an associate degree or higher.

High school student
If you’re in high school and are interested in attending ASU, but it’s too early to apply, you can still get started by taking some of your first-year college courses online, exploring major options and earning micro-scholarships to help pay for college.
