Frequently asked questions by parents about ASU
When is the best time to visit and tour ASU?
ASU offers campus visit tours almost every day. We recommend that you and your student visit ASU as early in the college decision-making process as possible as there are benefits to choosing a college early. You should also keep in mind the season — summers get hot in the Phoenix area, sometimes excessively hot, so it’s recommended that you make your visit plans for the fall, winter or spring.
How safe are ASU campuses?
ASU makes safety one of our top priorities. We offer many safety services and resources to students including secure residence halls staffed around the clock; a full-time, full-service university police force; safety escorts; emergency call boxes located throughout all ASU campuses and parking garages, which connect directly to the police department; an alert system to immediately contact students with information in the event of a campus emergency; and a safety smartphone app called LiveSafe.
What financial aid options are available to parents for students?
To help your student pay for college, you can apply for a Parent PLUS Loan. You must have good credit history to apply for this loan, which is offered by the federal government. Additionally, if you are an active duty member or veteran of the U.S. military, your student could be eligible for tuition benefits under the Post-9/11 GI Bill®.
