Scholar programs

ASU offers its students exclusive opportunities to customize their college experiences through programs like Public Service Academy and Barrett, The Honors College. These programs challenge and stimulate students while offering experiences beyond the classroom. Use these resources to help your students find and apply to the right programs for them.

Barrett, The Honors College

Barrett, The Honors College at Arizona State University is a selective, residential college that recruits academically outstanding undergraduates from across the nation. With more National Merit Scholars than MIT, Duke, Brown, Stanford or the University of California-Berkeley, Barrett offers your students a premier learning opportunity integrated within ASU. Who should apply? Students who are academically high-achieving, intellectually curious and well-rounded are encouraged to apply to Barrett. There is no minimum GPA or test score requirement for admission. The Barrett application is comprehensive, which allows many aspects of your student to be considered. To help your student, ensure their application includes:

Highlights of their academic achievement, as well as examples of strong leadership qualities, special talents, extracurricular hobbies and unique personal achievements.
A strong essay response to the given questions. A successful essay will address all elements of the prompt and examine a student's own ideas about education and the Barrett community.
Two letters of recommendation from individuals with an academic connection to the student and one other person such as a coach, supervisor or club advisor.

Next Generation Service Corps

The Next Generation Service Corps, a track of ASU’s Public Service Academy, develops the leaders we need for the complex challenges we face. This first-of-its-kind undergraduate model augments every major with the following programming over four years: curriculum, experiences and internships. Students who enter the Next Generation Service Corps make a commitment to social change during their four years and throughout their professions. To honor this commitment, ASU ensures that all NGSC participants receive base tuition funding through a combination of ASU scholarships and gift aid. To help your student:

An ideal candidate is a student who has a commitment to service and wants to ignite social change. Eligible students have a competitive GPA, history of community service and test scores on file with ASU, as well as a high school or community college reference.
Your student will fill out the application and participate in interviews throughout the spring and summer. Final decisions are made around July 1.
The application includes several essay questions, a resume and at least one letter of recommendation.

Edson E+I students experience professional development, leadership and resource opportunities focused on innovation and entrepreneurship. Students who care about innovation, are interested in entrepreneurship, or have or want to start a business are encouraged to apply.

About applying:

Students are expected to have a competitive GPA, be a first-time freshman and have a passion for innovation.
Encourage your students to complete the application before the priority deadline for the upcoming fall semester.
